It very much reminds me of the mid-80s TAG Croco (TAG as in the same people that financed Porsche’s F1 engine for McLaren). Also articulated, also more or less amphibious. Cannot recall whether it also had four-wheel steering.

You say your wife likes it? Er - what are you waiting for, exactly?

(I must admit sometimes these situations remind me of those crowds that tell suicidal people to take the plunge...)

Edit: The Croco was indeed 4WS (and had a single-rotor Wankel engine!), but it was on sale from 1981 on, not the mid-80s. More details here:

I emailed it to her, she said “I love it, I won’t be mad if you just up and buy it!” However, I just can’t do it right now. I bought a Ranger 3 days ago and that is my 3rd car and 4th vehicle, 5th if you included my Wife’s Forester. I’m already storing one at my Parents house. Maybe I’ll come in to some money between now and tomorrow?

Dang. I know the feeling. It reminds me of the Pino Verde early Alfetta GT (zero rust!) I found for 500 euro two years ago...

Maybe you can convince a seemingly lunatic friend and go Dutch on it?

Of course to secure its possession you would sadly have to dispose of said friend shortly afterwards.

If you end up buying it you can always rationalise it as “ this conveyance is not actually a car”.
